Top 10 universities in the world

The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2014 employ the world's largest invitation-only academic opinion survey to provide the definitive list of the top 100 most powerful global university brands. A spin-off of the annual Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the reputation league table is based on nothing more than subjective judgement - but it is the considered expert judgement of senior, published academics - the people best placed to know the most about excellence in our universities.

Here are some other findings from the release:
Five countries are represented in the top 20: the US, UK, Japan, Canada and Switzerland and overall 20 countries are represented in the top 100
The University of Tokyo at 11th place, is the highest ranking university outside of the UK or US (down two places on last year’s rankings)
Three institutions included in the reputation rankings fail to make the top 200 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings: Moscow State, Middle East Technical and São Paulo
King’s College London is Europe’s biggest riser – up from 61-70 to joint 43rd.
